The Rock of Travolta - My Band's Better Than Yours

Very often, with excellent live bands, the recorded version of songs tend to disappoint. If you listen to My Band... expecting just a calmer version of the live show then you'll be surprised. It's true that it doesn't capture the excitment of live shows, but then no recordings ever do. But instead, you get to hear all the details of the songs, and some more, then usually get drowned out by the bass in a live scenario.

The emphasis on this album is not the noise, but on the music. Along with all the noisy bits that we all love, there are also the quiet, gentler bits, with true melodies.. and for the first time on Trot songs, voices. Particularly on The Body is Still There But the Mind is Gone, there are menancing voices repeating the title of the song. The best track on the album though is probably I Love it When A Plan Comes Together. It's a masterpiece going from the loud bass lead bit to an almost twee electronic bit.

But the best of all is that now you can air guitar/drum/Death in the privacy of your own room, without feeling embarrased at the gig. I seriously doubt that anyone can resist the urge to air guitar or drum at least once when listening to this record.
