The Bigger the God @ the Point, 08/09/00

Who would have thought it? The Bigger the God are ten years old this year, and still they have more inventiveness than all the other bands put together. Tonight's gig was a little trailer for the proper birthday celebrations in November, and played mainly songs from the last album. These songs show the diversity of the band. They aren't afraid of not treading on the normal music routes and influences. For example, the new single Let's Make Love has a samba rhythm, and with the seductive voice of David Cowles-Hamar, why would there be any reasons not to believe the message of the song?

That is the other strength of the band. Apart from the way they make use of different dance rhythms (waltzes, sambas etc) David has now perfected the art of getting the audience onto the band's side. All the attention is drawn to him, and the rest of the band are just in the background. Watching The Bigger the God is actually more like watching David star in a film, than watching a band.
