The Others - The OthersThe Others. The first thing you think about them would be the ''guerilla gigs' that have grabbed the media's attention. The last thing you would think about them is their music. This is one of the most annoying aspects in the music world today, that presentation is more important than content. So what, they've played in 'non venue' places, well, so have many other bands. They have a decidicated bunch of followers, well so do many other bands. Their lead singer openly publishes his phone number, well so what? What music they end up with, has Dominic trying to snarl like Johnny Rotten, but ending up with the results of the bloated sense of importance of Northern Uproar and sounding like a whiney teenager. It is slightly disturbing that someone in their late 20s would still be singing like he was a teenager. Unlike Harry Enfield as Kevin the Teenager, it doesn't sound like that Dominic Others is taking the piss. The key to the success of this band is the sense of rebellion and loyalty. But how rebellious is it to listen to music that is influenced by a genre that made its breakthrough nearly 30 years ago? |
