I've never understood hardcore music. Men who're trying to prove how tough they are by growling harder than each other. Just think about their sore throats the next morning. At least this album isn't as potentially unlistenable as the first track made out. Admist the mountains of growling that is almost as difficult to listen to, as it is for the growler to do, there is some singing, and standard metal type bass and drums.
Suddenly in the midst of all this shouting there's a track in the middle that sounds so different it's a shock to hear. Autumn's Monologue sounds like a countrified, less-intesnse version of Bring Me to Life, so imagine Evanesence with Dolly Parton at the vocals. Apparently this is the half of a two part song (the second part -the title track- is an equally weak sounding song with a male response), and there are some other concepts running through the album. Great! A concept hardcore/metal/goth album.
If your ears react favourably to this type of music, it's probably worth checking out, and feel sympathy for the vocalists the next day. However your reviewer is off to listen to some classical music to hear some calming melodies.
