The Beta Band want to be different. They slagged off their last album, even before it was released, but luckily they haven't done anything like that for this album... yet.
They seem to be quite unlucky though. Out of all the possible samples in the world, they managed to sample the same song as I Monster for Squares. It is quite surprsing how similar the 2 tracks are, but it's a good opener. The trend in odd rhythms patterns continues throughout the album.
The only worrying thing about this album is that it could turn out to be one of those 'oh so fashionable on coffee table' type albums. There are moments when the songs tread on the 'chill out album' territory, such as on Gone. However there are still enough creative ideas to make this an interesting listen.
