Scissor Sisters @ Zodiac 10/02/04

If you've read any of the many reviews of Scissor Sisters the reviewers often comment on how they're this year's Electric Six or The Darkness. But I'm out to prove why they aren't.

They have more than one style of songs. From classics like Laura, Tits on the Radio and their re-invention of Comfortably Numb, to their fantastic set-closer Filthy/Gorgeous.

While Electric Six feel like sleazy old men, and the Darkness can look like old rockers, at times, Scissor Sisters are us. If only we lived in a more exciting alternative universe. Who wouldn't want to be more like Anamatronic or Jake Shears?

They play music natural to their origins, so the songs don't sound forced at all, as they can with the other two bands. Nowhere else can produce disco music quite like New Year, and the band don't pretend to be anything else. You can imagine the band partying at their favourite loft space, dressed exactly like they are onstage.

Ultimately, the similarity between the three bands is that they are just party bands, but they make the party rock in different ways. The best at it are the Scissor Sisters, well for this month at least.
